A Supreme Court advocate has written to the Attorney General of India, requesting permission to initiate criminal contempt proceedings against Advocate Rakesh Kishore, who attempted to throw a shoe at Chief Justice of India BR Gavai in open court.
The proceedings were sought to be initiated under Section 15 of the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971 on the grounds that the actions of the advocate amounted to gross interference with the administration of justice and severe disgrace towards the Apex Court.
The letter also highlighted the lack of remorse on the part of the perpetrator, clearly reflecting his deliberate attempt to erode public confidence in the judicial system.
