The Delhi High Court closed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking a special syllabus for children with autism, observing that the matter falls within the domain of policy-making.
The division bench of Chief Justice DK Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela advised the petitioner, Anish Sharma, to approach the Union and Delhi governments, CBSE, and relevant education boards with a detailed representation supported by proper research and scientific material.
The Court emphasised that curriculum design for autistic children is a sensitive, individualised issue and must be handled by appropriate authorities through proper research and consultation, not the judiciary. (Anish Sharma v. Doe GNCTD & Anr)
