Delhi High Court Orders CBI Probe Into Alleged Extortion Racket in Tihar Jail

The Delhi High Court has ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation to initiate a preliminary enquiry into allegations of an extortion racket operating within Tihar Jail.

This directive follows a sealed report by the inspecting judge, which highlighted serious illegal activities involving both inmates and jail authorities. 

The Court also asked the Principal Secretary, GNCTD, to find out which officials were responsible for the mismanagement and lack of proper supervision.

The Director General of Prisons has been asked to fully assist with the investigation. The matter has been listed for the next hearing on August 11.
