Karnataka HC Directs KSLU to Ensure Transparency in Exam Malpractice Cases

  • Case Name: Rahul H M vs. The Registrar (Evaluation) & Anr., W.P. No. 104890/2024
  • Judge(s): Justice Suraj Govindaraj

In a landmark ruling, the Karnataka High Court quashed Karnataka State Law University’s (KSLU) order barring an LLB student from exams over alleged malpractice, citing lack of due process. Justice Suraj Govindaraj directed the Vice Chancellor and Registrar to formulate rules to safeguard the sanctity of examinations and avoid malpractices by students.

The guidelines emphasize using CCTV cameras, body-worn cameras for invigilators and flying squads, real-time video recordings, electronic communication of notices to students, and installation of jammers to prevent communication.

The Court allowed the petition by law student Rahul H M and directed a fresh inquiry.
