Kerala High Court Closes all 35 Cases Based on Hema Committee Report

The Kerala High Court was informed that all 35 sexual harassment cases linked to the Hema Committee report were closed by the SIT, as no victims came forward to provide a statement despite receiving full support.

These cases were initiated based on the committee’s findings of widespread harassment in the Malayalam film industry.

The bench, after hearing multiple petitions, acknowledged SIT’s decision and emphasized that no victim can be compelled to participate.

The Court also noted the State will hold a Film Policy Conclave on August 2–3 and postponed further hearings to August 13 to consider both the conclave’s outcome and draft legislation for women’s safety in the entertainment industry.
