SEBI has introduced a uniform policy for sharing market data to enhance transparency and support research while safeguarding privacy.
Data is categorized into two groups: publicly shareable data, including trading statistics and investor grievances, accessible via MII websites, with up to 2 GB available annually for free; and sensitive data, like KYC details and trade logs, which remain non-shareable to protect privacy.
MIIs must submit data classifications for SEBI approval within 60 days and provide sample files online.
This initiative balances data-driven insights with privacy concerns, fostering a research-oriented securities market.
Details are available on SEBI’s official website (here).
