The Supreme Court has deferred its suo motu proceedings on the Lokpal’s assertion that it can hear complaints against High Court judges under the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, 2013.
The bench stated the issue must be heard by a Chief Justice-led bench and listed the matter for July, when Justice BR Gavai will take over as CJI.
The Court had earlier stayed the Lokpal’s ruling, calling it “very disturbing.” It also appointed Senior Advocate Ranjit Kumar as Amicus Curiae to assist the Court in the matter.
