The Karnataka High Court has reserved its verdict on the issue of whether the ₹200 cap imposed on movie ticket prices in the State needs to be stayed.
The plea was submitted by multiplex owners and movie producers challenging the decision of the State government to set the maximum price chargeable for a movie ticket at ₹200 under the Karnataka Cinemas (Regulation) (Amendment) Rules, 2025.
The petition also highlighted that while cinema ticket prices have been controlled, OTT and Satellite TV platforms remain largely unregulated.
The matter will next be heard on September 23rd, where the question of interim relief will be addressed by the judge.
