Supreme Court Cancels Bail of Man Accused of Issuing Forged Law Degrees

The Supreme Court has cancelled the bail granted by the Allahabad High Court to Mazahar Khan, accused of issuing forged degree certificates, including law degrees, holding that the allegations reveal a “systematic and organised” scheme affecting the integrity of the legal profession.

A Bench of Justices Ahsanuddin Amanullah and R. Mahadevan observed that the case is not an isolated instance of forgery and noted prima facie allegations that Khan misused his liberty by stalking and intimidating the complainant, advocate Zeba Khan.

While setting aside the July 30, 2025 bail order and restoring custody, the Court declined to order a CBI probe, citing lack of material showing mala fide investigation.
