The Supreme Court of India clarified that AI (Artificial Intelligence) and ML (Machine Learning) tools are used only for case management, not for delivering judgments.
AI assists in transcribing oral arguments, translating judgments into 18 Indian languages, and analyzing case facts through SUPACE. AI is also being tested for defect identification in legal filings.
Additionally, AI-powered judgment translations aim to make legal information accessible to all citizens. The court is working with IIT Madras to refine AI tools, ensuring accuracy before full implementation.
The Supreme Court of India does not use AI or ML for decision-making but ensures data security and integrity with industry best practices.
