The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has postponed its Bharat Bandh planned for October 3 under the “Save Waqf” campaign to protest the Waqf (Amendment) Act.
The decision came after an emergency meeting, internal deliberations, appeals from community leaders, and the overlap of religious festivals in several states.
The bandh had called for the closure of shops and offices from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., exempting essential services.
The AIMPLB has formed a committee to raise concerns about the Act’s impact on Muslim religious endowments and said fresh dates will be announced later.
