Allahabad High Court Fines Man ₹2K for False Corruption Claims Against Judges

  • Case Name: State of U.P. v. Devendra Kumar Dixit

The Allahabad High Court found Devendra Kumar Dixit guilty of criminal contempt under Section 2(c)(i) of the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971 for falsely accusing high court judges of corruption.

In 2016, he made a frivolous and baseless complaint claiming that High Court judges took money to dismiss his writ petition. He argued that he made the complaint to the President, not aware of how it reached the HC.

Given his old age and first offense, the Court imposed a ₹2,000 fine instead of imprisonment.

The court noted he neither apologized nor justified his claims, upholding the contempt charge.
