Allahabad High Court Grants Bail to Rape Accused Asked him to Marry Victim in Three Months

The Allahabad HC granted bail to a rape accused on the condition that he marries the victim within three months of his release.

He was accused of rape, cheating, and sharing an obscene video after allegedly promising her a police job, taking ₹9 lakh, and sexually assaulting her.

Arrested in September 2024, he faced charges under IPC Sections 376 (Rape) and 506 (Criminal Intidimidation) and Section 67 of the IT Act.

The Court, citing no exceptional circumstances or past criminal record, reiterated that “bail is the rule, jail is the exception.” Further, Bail can be canceled if he violates the conditions.
