Allahabad HC Orders Admission of Expelled Students Over Non-Veg Lunch Issue

  • Case Name: Master Rihan Khan & Ors. v. District Magistrate
  • Judge(s): Siddharth, Subhash Chandra Sharma
  • Advocate(s): Omar Zamin

Three children from Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, were expelled from a private school after bringing non-vegetarian tiffin. The school principal accused one child of being a religious fundamentalist and attempting to convert classmates, while the children’s mother claimed they were subjected to abuse and harassment.

The petitioners argued that the expulsion disrupted the children’s education and socialization, causing long-term academic and personal development setbacks. They sought alternate school admission and action against the principal for discrimination and harassment.

The Allahabad High Court directed the District Magistrate to admit the children to another CBSE school within two weeks, with a follow-up hearing on January 6, 2025.
