The Allahabad High Court ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into a racket involving false rape and criminal cases filed for extortion.
The Court discovered that Pooja Rawat and her lawyer, Parmanand Gupta, repeatedly filed false FIRs against multiple individuals to extort money.
The case surfaced when Arvind Yadav, one of the accused, petitioned for protection from arrest, claiming that Rawat had previously lodged 12 similar complaints.
Identifying a repeated misuse of the legal system, the Court protected the petitioners from arrest and ordered the CBI to investigate, requiring a report by April 10, 2025.
