The Allahabad High Court denied bail to Ansar Ahmad Siddique, a 62-year-old accused of sharing a Facebook post that read “Pakistan Zindabad” and supporting jihad.
Justice Siddharth emphasised that such content was not only unconstitutional but also “anti‑India,” warning that extending judicial mercy in such cases could embolden terrorism in India.
The State argued that Siddique’s post, published following a terrorist strike in Kashmir was highly prejudicial to national integrity.
The Court rejected the defence that Siddique’s age warranted leniency under Article 21 and further ordered that the trial court complete his trial expeditiously, citing the seriousness of the offence.
