Krishna Janmabhoomi Case: Allahabad HC Allows ‘Next Friend’ to Represent Lord Krishna

In the Krishna Janmabhoomi–Shahi Idgah dispute, the Allahabad High Court has ruled that a 'next friend' can represent Lord Krishna in a suit filed on behalf of devotees.

The Court held that as a juristic entity, Lord Krishna can be represented under Order I Rule 8 of the CPC, which allows public interest litigation in a representative capacity.

The court rejected arguments that the plaintiffs lacked locus standi and refused to dismiss the suit, clearing the way for further hearings. The case concerns the claim that the Shahi Idgah mosque encroaches upon Lord Krishna’s birthplace in Mathura.
