Court Calls for Framework on Live-In Relationships to Protect Moral Values

The Allahabad High Court, while granting bail to Akash Keshari in a case under the IPC and SC/ST Act, emphasized the need for a framework to address the growing trend of live-in relationships, citing concerns over societal moral values.

Keshari, accused of exploiting a woman under the pretext of marriage, argued the relationship was consensual and lasted six years.

Justice Nalin Kumar Srivastava noted that while live-in relationships lack social sanction, their rising prevalence highlights the need for solutions to ensure accountability.

The court granted bail, observing the importance of balancing individual freedom and societal ethics.
