Allahabad High Court Grants Bail to Rape Accused, Blames Victim

The Allahabad High Court, in granting bail to the accused in a rape case, observed that the woman "herself invited trouble and was also responsible."

The case involved a postgraduate student who met the accused at a Delhi bar in Hauz Khas and later went with him to a relative’s flat in Gurgaon, where she alleged rape.

The Court noted that she willingly consumed alcohol and went with the accused voluntarily.

Finding inconsistencies in her statement and no conclusive medical evidence, the Court allowed the bail application.
