The Allahabad High Court dismissed a plea by 24-year-old Ajeet Yadav seeking to quash an FIR filed against him for derogatory social media posts targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Yadav had referred to the PM as a "coward" and "hijra," criticizing his decision to avoid further military escalation following the May 10 India-Pakistan ceasefire.
The bench held that such "scurrilous language" against a constitutional authority could not be justified as mere emotional expression.
As per the FIR, he is said to have mocked the Prime Minister with the phrase, 'Name Narendra, work surrender'. The FIR invoked sections of the BNS related to promoting enmity, public mischief, and intentional insult.
