The Allahabad High Court directed all trial court judges not to record abusive or offensive language in judicial orders or witness statements.
The Court noted that both the Supreme Court and the High Court have consistently stressed maintaining decent and respectful language in judicial proceedings.
The directive arose from a case under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, where a Special Judge had recorded offensive words in an order and a witness statement.
The High Court ordered the instruction to be circulated among all judicial officers in Uttar Pradesh to preserve courtroom decorum and judicial dignity.
