Allahabad High Court Dismisses Advocate’s PIL Says it was Personal Dispute Disguised as Public Interest
The Allahabad High Court dismissed a Public Interest Litigation filed by an advocate after observing that it was not a genuine public cause but essentially a private dispute of his client.
The Court noted that the petitioner’s own submissions revealed he was pursuing an individual grievance under the guise of public interest.
It reiterated that PIL jurisdiction cannot be invoked for personal or proxy litigation.
Emphasising the need to prevent misuse of judicial process, the Court refused to entertain the plea and dismissed it, reinforcing that PILs must be filed only for bona fide public causes and not private interests.
