The Allahabad High Court dismissed a petition seeking a criminal case against Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya for allegedly submitting fake educational degrees and obtaining a petrol pump dealership.
Justice Sanjay Kumar Singh observed that the petitioner, Diwakar Nath Tripathi, lacked the legal standing as he was not directly affected by Maurya’s actions.
The court observed the petition appeared malicious, aimed at personal gain or settling scores. Earlier, the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate had found no cognizable offence.
Despite the Supreme Court condoning delay and directing reconsideration, the High Court upheld the lower court’s decision and rejected the plea.
