The Allahabad High Court (Lucknow Bench) sharply criticised the Uttar Pradesh Police for drafting an FIR in Hardoi using exaggerated, film-style language.
The Court objected to the inclusion of dramatic lines such as “Tum log police se ghir chuke ho,” terming them inappropriate for a legal document. It warned that theatrical narration, hearsay, and scripted elements undermine investigative credibility.
The matter arose in proceedings under the Uttar Pradesh Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act. The Court also flagged procedural lapses, including the absence of proper recovery documentation and inconsistencies in the police version.
Stressing professional restraint, the Court cautioned law enforcement against sensationalism in official records.
