The Allahabad High Court has initiated criminal contempt proceedings against advocate Harish Chandra Shukla for accusing the court of bias and dishonesty during a bail hearing in a murder case.
Justice Siddharth noted that Shukla, who was representing the complainant, made the accusations in written submissions after the court denied his request for an adjournment.
The court directed the registry to initiate contempt proceedings under Section 15 of the Contempt of Courts Act and referred the matter to a division bench. Additionally, the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh has been asked to examine Shukla’s conduct.
