Traffic Delays No Ground for Re-Examination : Allahabad High Court Refuses Relief to JEE Main Candidates

The Allahabad High Court has dismissed a plea by JEE (Main) 2025 candidates seeking a re-examination who arrived five minutes late to the exam center due to a traffic jam caused by a Chief Minister's convoy.

The petitioner's exam was scheduled on April 2 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and due to heavy congestion, they reached the examination centre by 2:30 PM (the gate closing time).

The court ruled that such delays do not constitute a violation of fundamental rights, and thus, no writ of mandamus could be issued.

The Court emphasized that examination authorities are not obligated to accommodate late arrivals, regardless of the reason, and that sympathy alone cannot override established rules.
