Allahabad High Court Orders Probe into Unauthorized 'Vivah Kendra' Operating from Lawyer’s Chamber in Lucknow

The Allahabad High Court directed an immediate investigation into a 'Vivah Kendra' allegedly operating from a lawyer’s chamber in the old HC premises, Lucknow.

The issue arose during a couple’s protection plea, which cited a marriage certificate issued by "Pragtisheel Hindu Samaj Nyas" from the said chamber. However, the woman’s counsel denied any marriage and claimed she lived with her parents.

The Court directed police and registry officials to inspect the chamber, finding signs of unauthorised ceremonies. Proceedings were also initiated against the petitioner for a false affidavit, and eviction of the advocates for misuse of the chamber space reserved for legal professionals.
