The Allahabad High Court (Lucknow Bench) has quashed criminal proceedings against international shooter and President’s Awardee Vartika Singh, who faced forgery and defamation charges after alleging a ₹25 lakh bribe demand linked to a National Commission for Women appointment.
The Court found no evidence that she forged letters purportedly from the PMO or a Union Minister’s office, holding that the prosecution was mechanical and unsupported by material on record.
The ruling reinforces that criminal law cannot be used to silence whistleblowers without proof.
