Amendments in Delhi Legal Metrology Rules to strengthen consumer protection

LG VK Saxena has approved amendments to the Delhi Legal Metrology Rules, 2011, to align with the Jan Vishwas Act, 2023, recently introduced by the central government, to ensure fair market practices.

The changes aim to protect consumers from fraud and cheating by introducing stricter penalties for retailers, wholesalers, and manufacturers involved in malpractices.

The amendments include an enhanced penalty for the use of non-standard weights or measures, as per the updated rules.
