The Andhra Pradesh government has introduced a new bar policy aimed at making bar operations financially viable by reducing licence fees and allowing payments in six instalments.
The fee has been drastically cut across districts- for instance, from ₹1.97 crore to ₹55 lakh in Kadapa and from ₹1.79 crore to ₹55 lakh in Anantapur.
The policy also lowers the application fee to a uniform ₹5 lakh across the State, compared to the earlier higher rates in urban areas.
Licences will be allotted through a public draw of lots, with fees rationalised based on town and city population.
