Andhra Pradesh High Court Strikes Down Computer-Based Test for Teacher Appointments in Grant-Aided Schools

On June 7, 2025, the Andhra Pradesh High Court quashed the government’s move to conduct a Computer-Based Test (CBT) for teacher recruitment in grant-in-aid schools.

The court held that implementing CBT through executive orders, without any legislative or subordinate legislative support, is unconstitutional. Justice Gannamaneni Ramakrishna Prasad noted that after the earlier G.O.Ms No.43 (2018) was struck down, fresh changes must be made through amendments to the 1993 Rules.

While acknowledging the need for modern recruitment methods, the court directed that any new system must be established through proper legislative amendments to the 1993 Rules governing private school administration.
