News agency ANI has filed a commercial suit against YouTuber Mahesh Keshwala for allegedly using its interview clips without permission on his channel 'Thugesh Unfiltered'.
ANI claims Thugesh reproduced entire video segments without license or consent, violating ANI's exclusive rights under the Copyright Act. The agency flagged 4 such videos and is seeking a permanent injunction and damages for copyright infringement, piracy, and unjust enrichment.
While ANI had issued copyright strikes, Thugesh countered them, citing fair use.
Google, also named in the suit, has sought time to verify claims. The court has directed the filing of written statements. The next hearing is on September 12.
