Apple has agreed to a $95 million settlement over allegations that Siri inadvertently recorded private conversations without user consent. While denying wrongdoing, Apple will compensate U.S. users up to $20 per Siri-enabled device for up to five devices owned between 2014 and 2024.
Users must confirm accidental Siri activations during private conversations.
The lawsuit stems from 2019 claims of unintentional recordings reviewed by contractors. Critics say the $95 million payout, equal to nine hours of Apple’s profit, is too small to deter future issues.
