Karnataka High Court Seeks Stricter Laws Against Motorcycle Wheelies

The Karnataka High Court highlighted the urgent need for a specific legal provision to address the rising threat of motorcycle wheelies, noting existing laws under the  Motor Vehicles Act only allow for bailable offences like negligent driving.

The Court made the observation while denying bail to a man accused of performing a wheelie with two pillion riders, injuring police personnel, and damaging property during a confrontation.

Noting the accused's repeated offences and abusive behaviour, the Court urged the State to consider legal amendments to ensure stricter penalties in the interest of public safety.
