Bar Council of P&H Issues Notices to 16 Lawyers for ‘Bench Hunting’ in Roop Bansal Corruption Case

The Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana’s Privilege Committee has issued notices to 16 lawyers, including two senior advocates, for allegedly trying to manipulate which bench hears a high-profile corruption case involving Gurugram-based real estate developer Roop Bansal.

The committee says such “bench hunting” strikes at the heart of judicial integrity, calling it an “invasion of the Temple of Justice.”

The advocates have been asked to appear on August 16, either in person or through their counsel, and submit written replies.

Even well-known lawyers like Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Mukul Rohatgi have been asked to respond to the allegations.
