IIT Indore and NLIU Bhopal received a show-cause notice from the Bar Council of India (BCI) regarding their joint offering of the online Master of Science in Cyber Security and Cyber Law program.
The BCI stated that, in accordance with Supreme Court decisions and UGC regulations, no legal education program can function without BCI approval.
According to the BCI, the program affects the integrity of legal education and is in violation of the Advocates Act of 1961.
It has sent the notification to the UGC for additional assessment and has asked a response within 15 days, threatening legal action and possible admissions suspension.
