Mehul Choksi Extradition to India Approved in ₹13,000 Crore PNB Fraud Case: Belgian Court

A Belgian court approved the extradition of fugitive diamantaire Mehul Choksi to India, a key development in the ₹13,000 crore Punjab National Bank fraud case.

The Antwerp court upheld Choksi’s April 11 arrest by Belgian authorities on India’s request, confirming that charges of cheating, conspiracy, and corruption are recognised under Belgian law.

Choksi, 65, has remained in custody since his arrest, with multiple bail applications rejected. He has 15 days to appeal to Belgium’s Supreme Court, after which, if unsuccessful, he will be extradited to India and likely lodged in Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail.
