A Bengaluru special court granted bail to Congress MLA K.C. Veerendra, arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in an alleged online betting and money laundering case.
The court noted the defence argument that the alleged proceeds of crime were minimal and that the ED could not inflate amounts by treating all betting transactions as illicit.
It also considered objections on jurisdiction, reliance on confessional statements, and non-fulfilment of the twin conditions under Section 45 of the PMLA, granting bail with strict conditions.
