Bengaluru Consumer Court Orders Go Unenforced, Consumers Struggle Despite Legal Wins

Many Bengaluru consumers are unable to enforce favourable verdicts under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, as companies fail to comply with court rulings.

Cases include a Jayanagar man denied an ₹8 lakh telecom refund, a Yelahanka resident’s defective car claim, and a JP Nagar resident awaiting a plot since 2007.

A retired teacher from Shantinagar has not received interest on a ₹15 lakh investment despite court relief.

Officials admit around 10% of orders are not followed. Though Section 72 allows criminal action for non-compliance, poor enforcement leaves citizens frustrated and forced to file execution petitions to claim their dues.
