Bihar Jail Turns Into Wedding Venue as Inmate Marries Widowed Sister-in-Law

A jail in Bihar’s Madhubani district turned into a wedding venue when an inmate married his sister-in-law inside the prison.

The groom was in judicial custody after the woman, his late brother’s wife, accused him of sexual exploitation following a dispute. Prison officials said the wedding was organised on court orders, with staff supervising and fellow inmates joining as baraatis.

Advocate Gagan Dev Yadav, representing the accused, said the couple’s relationship began after the woman’s husband died in 2022.

The inmate later sought bail in the Patna High Court and requested court permission to marry her, which was granted.
