BJP Minister Moves Supreme Court Against MP HC Order for FIR Over Remarks on Army Officer, Sofiya Qureshi

BJP Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah has approached the Supreme Court challenging the Madhya Pradesh High Court’s suo motu direction to register an FIR against him. The order follows his remark calling Colonel Sofiya Qureshi a “sister of terrorists.”

Colonel Qureshi had gained national attention during 'Operation Sindoor' for briefing the media on Indian Air Force strikes against Pakistani terror sites.

The High Court termed Shah’s statement “disparaging” and “dangerous,” stating it disrespected not just the officer, but the armed forces.

It directed the DGP to register an FIR, warning of contempt for non-compliance. The police later booked Shah under relevant provisions of the BNS. SC will hear the matter on May 16.
