Bombay High Court Cautions Republic TV Against Embellishments in Anil Ambani Case

The Bombay High Court cautioned Republic TV and editor Arnab Goswami against adding "embellishments" to their coverage of legal proceedings involving industrialist Anil Ambani.

Justice Arif Doctor remarked that while the media has the right to report on court orders and records, such reportage must remain factual and not rouse public interest through unnecessary commentary.

The Court was hearing a defamation suit filed by Ambani, who alleged that the channel's broadcasts aimed to assassinate his character.

While the Court declined to pass a restraint order, it suggested the matter was resolvable and listed it for further hearing on April 29.
