Bombay High Court Directs Maharashtra Govt to Fully Implement Passive Euthanasia Guidelines

The Bombay High Court has disposed of a PIL filed by Dr. Nikhil Datar, seeking enforcement of the Supreme Court’s 2023 guidelines on passive euthanasia from Common Cause v. Union of India.

The Supreme Court's directions included the creation of a robust mechanism for citizens to complete living wills, also known as Advance Medical Directives (AMD). 

The Bench directed the State to ensure full compliance within 4 months, while granting liberty to petitioners to raise future grievances.
