Bombay HC Orders HDFC Bank to Provide CCTV Footage in the Judge's Bribery Case

  • Case Name: Dhananjay L. Nikam v. State of Maharashtra

The Bombay High Court instructed HDFC Bank’s Mutha Colony branch in Satara to provide CCTV footage from December 9, 2024, to Judge Dhananjay L. Nikam, accused of asking a ₹5 lakh bribe for granting bail.

Justice NR Borkar ordered the footage, reportedly showing a crucial conversation between the judge and the complainant, to be handed over within a week.

Judge Dhananjay L. Nikam, seeking anticipatory bail, denies the allegations, asserting he was falsely implicated and absent on relevant dates.

The prosecution claims an Anti-Corruption Bureau investigation verified the bribe demand.

The case is scheduled for further hearing on January 27.
