Bombay HC Orders Protection for Whistleblower in Multi Crore Torres Scam Case

The Bombay High Court has ordered Mumbai Police to protect Abhishek Gupta, who exposed the Torres investment scam, a Ponzi scheme that cheated investors out of crores.

Gupta, an auditor for Platinum Hern Pvt Ltd, revealed the scam in June 2024 but faced threats after filing a complaint.

The court criticized the Economic Offences Wing for delays that let key suspects escape India.

It also directed the police to save CCTV footage from their offices (Dec 30, 2024–Jan 14, 2025) and check immigration records to support the investigation.
