Bombay High Court Orders Sprouts News To Take Down Articles Defaming Godrej Properties

The Bombay High Court directed Sprouts News to remove two online articles published on August 13 and 18 that allegedly defamed Godrej Properties Ltd.

Justice Chagla held that the content was prima facie defamatory and restrained the outlet from publishing or republishing similar material.

Godrej argued that the articles falsely claimed its Haryana project lacked a fire NOC under a repealed law and that one article maliciously displayed its logo with the word “Fraud.”

The Court noted that prior notice could have led to further defamatory publication. Sprouts News may seek modification of the order, with the case listed for September 8.
