Bombay High Court Directs Mumbai Police Not to Arrest Kunal Kamra Over Eknath Shinde Remarks

The Bombay High Court on April 25 directed the Mumbai Police not to arrest stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra in the FIR filed over his "gaddar" remark against Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde.

While allowing the police investigation to proceed, the Court directed that any questioning of Kamra must occur in Chennai, where he resides, with prior notice.

The Court also stated that if a chargesheet is filed, the trial court should not proceed until Kamra's plea to quash the FIR is decided.

The FIR, registered at Khar Police Station, invokes Sections 353(1)(b), 353(2), and 356(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
