
The Bombay High Court condemned the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) for its four-year delay in filing a charge-sheet in a case under the Maharashtra Protection of Interest of Depositors (MPID) Act, involving over 600 investors affected by fraudulent activities.
The FIR, was registered in October 2020 under sections of the IPC and MPID Act. Despite several orders, no charge-sheet was filed. The Court criticized the delay expressed its dissatisfaction, highlighting the investors' hardships and the police's failure to conclude the investigation.
The prosecutor assured the Court that the charge-sheet would be filed within four weeks. The case was adjourned for compliance verification on January 28, 2025.
