Bombay HC Suggests Mediation to Resolve 5000 crore Lodha Brothers' Trademark Dispute

  • Case Name: Macrotech Developers Ltd. vs. The House of Abhinandan Lodha
  • Judge(s): Justice Arif Doctor

The Bombay High Court has suggested mediation between brothers Abhishek and Abhinandan Lodha regarding the use of the 'Lodha' trademark.

Macrotech Developers, led by Abhishek, filed a ₹5,000 crore lawsuit against Abhinandan’s company, The House of Abhinandan Lodha, for trademark infringement, seeking an injunction to stop its use.

The court noted that the dispute stems from a 2015 family settlement when Abhinandan separated from the Lodha Group.

Macrotech claims exclusive rights to the trademark, having spent ₹1,700 crore on brand-building over four decades.

Justice Doctor proposed appointing a retired Supreme Court judge to mediate and requested both parties to confirm their willingness to resolve the issue amicably.
