Bombay High Court Adjourns "Ego Fight" Defamation Suit to 2046

The Bombay High Court adjourned a nine-year-old defamation suit to the year 2046, describing the case as an "ego fight" between senior citizens that clogs the judicial system.

The Court observed that the Court’s time should be prioritized for pressing matters rather than disputes at the "fag end" of the parties' lives.

The 2017 suit sought ₹20 crores in damages over a housing society dispute. Despite suggestions to settle with an apology, the 90-year-old plaintiff insisted on a trial.

Consequently, the Court ordered that the matter not be taken up for 20 years, explicitly denying priority based on the parties' advanced age.
